Every car over three years old needs an MOT once a year to stay road legal, and driving without a valid one can result in a fine and points on your licence. At FitnFix Auto, we carry out MOT tests for all makes and models, checking your car against the full list of legal requirements in one visit.

What Does an MOT Check?

An MOT test covers the parts of your car that affect safety and emissions, including:

• Brakes, steering, and suspension
• Tyres and wheels
• Lights and indicators
• Seatbelts and airbags
• Exhaust emissions
• Windscreen, wipers, and washers
• Registration plates and vehicle identification

If your car has any electric or hybrid components, these are checked as part of the same test, using equipment suited to that technology.

What Happens If My Car Fails Its MOT?

If your car doesn’t pass, we’ll give you a clear breakdown of what’s failed and why, along with an honest recommendation on what needs fixing. Because we carry out MOTs and repairs on site, we can often sort minor issues the same day, so you’re not left without a car for longer than necessary. There’s no obligation to have any repair work done with us, though we’re always happy to help if you’d like us to.

When Should I Book My MOT?

You can book your MOT up to a month, minus a day, before your current certificate expires, and doing so won’t affect the renewal date. Booking early gives you a bit of breathing room if anything needs attention before the test, rather than leaving it to the last minute.
